Simplistically, preparation for the application of BA-65 consists of tyning the project area to loosen the 'in situ' base material and bring particle fines to the surface. BA-65 is diluted with water in the applicable ratio and then sprayed or evenly spread by a water truck onto the prepared pre-watered base.

After thoroughly wetting the loosened soil with the BA-65 and water mixture, a grader can then blade-mix the area until the product is mixed to an even texture. Product penetration to a depth of between 50mm to 150mm is recommended depending on individual requirements.

During the mixing process, the fines form concentric rings around the larger particles in the base material, which in turn create random balls of aggregate material. The next phase is to compact the area with a suitable roller or heavy rubber-tyred vehicle. When the mixture has been compacted the random balls integrate and lock together into a solid structure.

Laboratory and on-site testing show this type of agglomeration greatly increases the weight-bearing and hydrophobic properties of the treated areas.

The final stage is to apply a mixture of BA-65 and water to the new road surface. To keep the new surface in premium condition it is recommended by Austwide Earth Stabilization Company that this final procedure be repeated on a monthly basis or when any dust starts to appear.

The process is also quite environmentally friendly, also very cost effective and is quite safe, particularly when compared to fully bitumenised surfaces or dangerous unsealed roads.
